Simplify Expressions
Expand brackets, combine like terms and cancel fractions in expressions with letters.
Expression:
x
Use letters, brackets and powers: (a + b)^2 − 2ab. The letter e is the number e, pi is π. Multiply letters with a space or *.
This calculator simplifies expressions with letters: it expands brackets, combines like terms and cancels fractions that divide exactly.
Example. (a + b)² − (a − b)² = 4ab. The fraction (x² − 1) / (x − 1) cancels to x + 1 for x ≠ 1.
The result is checked by substituting numbers. The only identity applied is sin²u + cos²u = 1, so the answer may not be the shortest.
