Gas Laws
Ideal gas law pV = nRT and the combined gas law: pressure, volume, temperature and special processes.
Temperature must be in kelvins: T = t + 273 (20 °C = 293 K). For an isothermal process T₁ = T₂, isobaric p₁ = p₂, isochoric V₁ = V₂ — enter equal values.
The gas laws calculator solves problems with the ideal gas law and the combined gas law: it finds the pressure, volume, temperature and amount of gas.
Ideal gas law
pV = nRT, R = 8.31 J/(mol·K)
Temperature must be in kelvins: T = t + 273.
Combined gas law and special processes
p1V1/T1 = p2V2/T2
| Process | Constant | Law |
|---|---|---|
| isothermal | T | p1V1 = p2V2 (Boyle) |
| isobaric | p | V1/T1 = V2/T2 (Charles) |
| isochoric | V | p1/T1 = p2/T2 (Gay-Lussac) |
For a special process enter equal values of the constant quantity.
