Frequency and Period
Frequency and period converter: Hz, kHz, MHz, rpm, rad/s and period in seconds. Conversion with a solution and a table.
⇄
Enter a whole number, a decimal (2.5), a fraction (1/3) or scientific notation (6.02e23).
The frequency and period converter converts hertz, revolutions per minute, radians per second and oscillation period. Frequency is the number of oscillations per second, period is the duration of one oscillation: f = 1 : T. Angular velocity is related to frequency by ω = 2πf.
Units
| Unit | In the base unit (Hz) |
|---|---|
| hertz (Hz) | 1 |
| kilohertz (kHz) | 1000 |
| megahertz (MHz) | 1000000 |
| gigahertz (GHz) | 1000000000 |
| revolution per minute (rpm) | 1/60 |
| revolution per second (rps) | 1 |
| radian per second (rad/s) | 1/(2π) |
| period in nanoseconds (ns) | 1000000000 : x |
| period in microseconds (µs) | 1000000 : x |
| period in milliseconds (ms) | 1000 : x |
| period in seconds (s) | 1 : x |
| period in minutes (min) | 1/60 : x |
| period in hours (h) | 1/3600 : x |
Example. 50 Hz: T = 1 : 50 = 0.02 s = 20 ms.
