Gravitational Force
Gravitational force F = Gm₁m₂/r², distance, mass and the surface gravity of a planet.
The gravitational force calculator finds the attraction between two bodies, the distance between them, the mass of a body and the surface gravity of a planet.
Newton's law of universal gravitation
F = Gm1m2/r², G = 6.67 · 10−11 N·m²/kg²
Every two bodies attract with a force proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers.
Example. The Earth (5.97 · 1024 kg) and the Moon (7.35 · 1022 kg) 384,400 km apart attract with about 2 · 1020 N.
Surface gravity
g = GM/R²
For the Earth (M = 5.97 · 1024 kg, R = 6371 km) it is ≈ 9.81 m/s². Enter large numbers in scientific notation: 5.97e24.
