Hooke's Law
Hooke's law F = kx: spring force, spring constant, extension and elastic potential energy.
The Hooke's law calculator finds the spring force, the spring constant and the extension, as well as the elastic potential energy of a stretched or compressed spring.
Hooke's law
F = k · x
The elastic force is proportional to the extension x. The coefficient k is the spring constant in N/m. The law holds for small (elastic) deformations.
Example. A 200 N/m spring stretched by 5 cm: F = 200 · 0.05 = 10 N.
Spring energy
Ep = kx²/2
The energy grows with the square of the extension: stretch a spring twice as far and it stores four times the energy.
