Periodic Table
Interactive periodic table: atomic mass, electron configuration, electronegativity and properties of every element.
The interactive periodic table shows all 118 chemical elements. Click an element to open its card: atomic number, atomic mass, period and group, family, electronegativity, electron configuration and, for main-group elements, the highest and lowest oxidation states, the highest oxide and the volatile hydrogen compound.
How to read the table
- The atomic number equals the nuclear charge and the number of electrons in the atom.
- The period number is the number of electron shells.
- For main-group elements the group number gives the number of outer electrons and the highest oxidation state.
- Across a period metallic properties weaken; down a group they strengthen.
The cell color shows the family: alkali and alkaline earth metals, transition metals, metalloids, nonmetals, halogens, noble gases, lanthanides and actinides. For elements without stable isotopes the mass number of the most stable isotope is given in square brackets.
