Coordinate Converter
Convert latitude and longitude between degrees, minutes, seconds and decimal degrees, with a solution.
The coordinate converter converts latitude and longitude from degrees, minutes and seconds to decimal degrees and back — the formats used on maps, in GPS devices and online maps.
How to convert
One degree has 60 minutes, one minute has 60 seconds:
D = d + m/60 + s/3600
Back: the whole part is the degrees; multiply the fractional part by 60 to get minutes, and the fractional part of the minutes by 60 again to get seconds.
Northern latitude and eastern longitude are positive in decimal form; southern latitude and western longitude have a minus sign.
Example. 55°45′21″ N = 55 + 45/60 + 21/3600 ≈ 55.7558°. And back: 37.6173° = 37°37′02.3″ E.
