Partial Derivatives and Gradient
First and second partial derivatives of a function of several variables and the gradient at a point.
What to find:
f(x, y, z) =
x
Variables x, y, z. Examples: x^2 y + y^3, sin(x y), e^(x + 2y). Multiply variables with a space or *.
This calculator finds first and second partial derivatives of a function of several variables and its gradient at a point.
When differentiating by one variable the others are treated as constants. The gradient is made of the first derivatives and points in the direction of greatest growth.
Example. For f = x²y: ∂f/∂x = 2xy, ∂f/∂y = x².
